Flee the island!

Lived on an island with my family... which included a new older brother and a baby sister, who I wasn't allowed to play with. She was "special" and had powers that she could remember just about anything she saw or read about. A savant.
All of a sudden the king of our island nation attacked his own people with his army saying he wanted a stronger nation and Brother and I fled through the water. We had to leave the rest of the family to perish unfortunately...
We ended up on another island where we found a woman who sold breakfast and was kind to us. She was a haggardly old woman and gave me some earrings. Then she suddenly turned on us and divulged that she wasn't actually an old woman, but a young woman with the king's army. Suddenly, the special baby sister appeared, only she was now an older child... she protected us with some sweet moves she once saw the king's army use.
Then we escaped the breakfast place with the army close behind us... we had to hide behind some metal bars(which totally should have given us immediately away!) and the army was around shooting everyone with large guns.
Once they had turned their backs, we yanked back the drywall easily and escaped into another room... we we yanked back more drywall into yet another room. This continued for about a dozen rooms once we ended up on a really snowy new town.
I was worried because I knew this town would just give up our location once they knew we were new there and the King's army would be looking for anyone new... Luckily, the new brother said he'd called a rental agency ahead and had three houses for us together on a lot. We were safe since he'd called ahead and I elaborately weaved a story for the real estate agent that we came from far away lands with lots of cats.
